I secured the growth of regional group for digital R&D activity in the region from 15 to 55-60 people (over $6 million yearly budget now).
The R&D group is structured into scrum and project teams spread over five locations:
- The R&D hub for the Americas is Boston and is primarily focused on product development and transversal activities (e.g. QA, Production Support and UX) on the current digital stack as well as the new reference architecture for our Airline Platform, with REST/JSON API for Digital Commerce and Angular for Digital Experience Suite.
- The other regional sites are Toronto, Montreal, Bogota and Dallas and manage bespoke development for our first-tier customers, working mostly in collocation.

Detailed activities on the job:
- Drive the successful delivery of our products and solutions, while contributing to the product strategy and the overall technology roadmap.
- Ensure continuous improvement for quality and operations with constant fine-tuning of software development best practices and internal tooling for monitoring or automation.
- Manage budget, forecasting and headcount for all of engineering activities.
- Encourage and evangelize agile development, with the adoption of SAFe for product evolution and despoke development.
- Work with regional commercial organisation for customer engagements and business development.
- Provide strong, decisive and effective leadership for my managers and my group.
- Mentor and coach direct reports (managers and individual contributors) on an individual basis to ensure focus on delivery and results, on resiliency in the planning of projects and on succession planning within the group.
- Develop loyalty and commitment in others by fostering a collaborative mindset, by communicating high expectations and by setting an example in one’s own behavior.
