Summary

In my bachelor’s in mathematics and physics I discovered applied mathematics and enjoyed using technical tools to solve concrete problems. After two research internships in this field, at CMAP lab in IPParis, I realised that mathematics were closely linked to AI, which offered fascinating new tools to tackle even more complex problems. I hence decided to deepen my understanding of machine learning and visual computing in my master’s at Ecole Polytechnique. Beyond, Singapore is my dream place to work. Last summer I worked a summer job at Gong Cha in Funan which improved my management skill and understanding of the Chinese language, that I have studied since middle school.

Professional experiences

Machine learning intern

Upskills

Since 2. april 2023

For the next 5 months, I'll be working on improving financial document analysis through machine learning algorithms at Upskills Singapore. I'm eager to discover novel techniques, embrace diverse perspectives, and meet new people during this exciting opportunity!

Summer job

Gong Cha

From July 2022 to August 2022

Barista in Singapore:

Having only very academic and research-oriented work experiences, this experience made me go out of my comfort zone.

As a team member I helped preparing teas, making the tapioca pearls, dealing with the store’s storage and cleaning. I also made customers’ drinks and took orders while being cashier.

Being in Singapore the main language was English but for my colleagues, their main language was Chinese which pushed me to practice and have a more “daily life” approach of the language.

Bachelor's thesis

CMAP ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE

From January 2022 to March 2022

Applied mathematics,

Study of stochastic gradient descent and its variants. The internship involved the proof of the rate of convergence of gradient descent (exact line search and backtracking), stochastic gradient descent and SVRG. SAGA was also briefly studied.
Then, a neural network with one hidden layer was built using back propagation to compare these descent methods on a concrete dataset.

Research internship

CMAP ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE

From July 2021 to August 2021

Applied mathematics,

Construction of a prey-predator model. The first glimpse of it was provided by probabilistic simulations. Then, a more rigorous approach that uses Markov chains allowed for a more theoretical understanding. Game theory was used in the results.
