Handover at the Head of the AX’s International Ambassadors Network: A Strong Basis for the Future

Fostering connections and sharing values across borders: this is the purpose of the AX’s international ambassadors network.

To establish this network – launched in 2019 at the initiative of the AX’s board of directors – Michel Georgin (X66) built bridges between existing country X groups, recruited volunteers in major uncovered cities, and then created embassies in cities with smaller communities but significant for hosting interns from the engineering, Bachelor’s, and Master of Science and Technology programmes, as well as for promoting the School.

Today, the ambassadors’ network, comprising 49 embassies, spans 36 countries and embodies a collective strength and a bridge between generations. This network engages in dialogue with the alumni associations of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, as well as with those of France’s leading business schools.

“After seven exciting years of building and animating the network – combining diplomacy, identifying potential candidates, supporting the organisation and promotion of events within the embassies, collaborating closely with our counterparts at l’X, and seeking synergies with IP Paris alumni associations – I felt the time had come to hand over to a younger colleague with fresh eyes and a passion for network leadership,” says Michel.

As of 1 June 2026, Jean-Yves Bouteyre (X82) will take over to continue and amplify this momentum. This transition is built on solid foundations: an active and united community, committed ambassadors, and growing international influence.

The AX acknowledges the work accomplished by Michel Georgin, whose efforts have created a vibrant and meaningful network, and warmly welcomes Jean-Yves, who will ensure this positive momentum continues, allowing the network to expand and thrive.

Jean-Yves Bouteyre is a graduate of École Polytechnique (X82) and ENSTA (1987). He then joined the Armaments Corps, where he held various roles in radar systems, naval combat systems, and naval export programmes, first at the DGA until 2015 and then at ODAS from 2015 to 2024.

Since 2014, he has served as a mentor to international Polytechnique students every year as part of the AX buddy programme.

Jean-Yves is deeply involved in the XVe Athletic Club in Paris, where he has worked as a running coach and general secretary since 2019.

“This new mission of leading the ambassadors’ network represents a fresh challenge for me, complementing my mentorship in the context of the AX buddy programme and my appetite for international engagement and cultural diversity,” declares Jean-Yves.
